1. Who these terms are with
Zx Scanner is published by Harsh Chansoria, sole proprietor, trading as Zx Tech House, India ("we", "us"). By installing or using Zx Scanner ("the app") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What the app does
Zx Scanner is an Android application that captures photographs of physical documents using your device camera and converts them into PDF files stored on your device. It also provides tools to edit, organise, search, print, share, export and back up those files. Some tools are available only with a Zx Premium subscription, as described on our product page.
3. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal or business purposes. You may not copy, sell, sublicense, rent out, reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source code of the app, except where such a restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
4. Your documents are yours
You retain all rights to the documents you create with the app. We claim no ownership over them and, since the app stores everything locally and has no network access, we never receive them. You are solely responsible for the content you scan and for making sure you have the right to scan, store and share it.
5. Your responsibilities
- Do not use the app to reproduce, alter or store documents in a way that breaks any law, including forging or tampering with identity documents, certificates, currency or official records.
- Do not use the app to infringe anyone's copyright, privacy or other rights.
- Keep your own backups. Documents live only on your device, so a lost, damaged, reset or wiped phone means lost documents unless you have used the backup feature.
- Remember your PDF passwords. If you password-protect a PDF and forget the password, we have no way to recover the file.
6. Zx Premium subscription
Zx Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription costing ₹149 for six months in India, inclusive of applicable taxes. It is sold and processed through Google Play Billing, and Google is the seller and merchant of record. Prices in other countries are set by Google's currency conversion.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each six-month period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends. You manage and cancel the subscription in the Google Play Store app, not in Zx Scanner. Cancellation, renewal and refund terms are set out in our refund and cancellation policy.
If a subscription lapses, the app reverts to the free tier limits. Nothing you have scanned is deleted, and you keep full access to view, edit, share and export your existing documents.
7. Changes to the app
We may add, change or remove features over time, and we may change what is included in the free and Premium tiers. Where a change materially reduces what an active Premium subscription provides, we will give reasonable notice. We may also stop distributing or supporting the app; if we do, documents already on your device remain on your device.
8. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that scans will be of any particular quality, or that text recognition will be accurate. Optical character recognition is inherently imperfect and its output should be checked before you rely on it.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, documents, profits or business, arising out of your use of or inability to use the app. Our total aggregate liability to you in connection with the app is limited to the amount you paid us for the subscription in the twelve months before the claim arose, or ₹149, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
10. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these terms. On termination, sections 4, 8, 9 and 11 survive.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any mandatory consumer protection rights available to you where you live, the courts at Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the app.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version always appears on this page with a "last updated" date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised terms.
